THE South Bougainville by-election is all set to start the voting process on Saturday, says Assistant Returning Officer Mathew Maau.
Maau said with the campaign period ending on Saturday, the people were looking forward to go to the polling stations.
The ballot papers were distributed to the four main districts of South Bougainville namely Buin, Siwai, Bana and Torokina.
He said polling officials had been briefed last week.
Among the 12 candidates nominated is the 2012 runner-up Timothy Masiu. He said so far they were happy with the progress.
“Even though with only few months to go before next year’s general election the people are happy and are looking forward to vote for the one to represent them for these remaining months,” he said.
The polling will end on July 1 followed by counting up to July 18. Writs should be returned on or before July 22.
The Government released K2.5 million to conduct the election after the death of the late MP Steven Kamma Pirika.
