No payment for highway

Letters

The road section at Izagolumaka pertaining to the National Highway at Asaroyufa in Goroka District has never been paid by successive governments since the colonial days.
It is still customary land.
No payments were made to date since when the road was first diverted from the old highway passing through the old Goroka Road.
The highway road currently in use today was built through gardens, traditional water holes and dwelling places.
Colonial masters coerced traditional landowners into believing that payments were forthcoming as soon as the bypass was completed.
This promise has not eventuated.
