Highlands Highway deteriorating

Letters

ON the second day of New Year 2018, I travelled from home down to Lae and saw something that really bothered me.
From my home province, Southern Highlands to Morobe, the road condition is very bad.
There huge potholes, folds/faults and land slips at every section of the Highway.
The most common one are potholes.
The state is getting worse.
This Highway is the only lifeline that supplies goods and services to the people of all Highlands provinces.
Is the government doing enough to maintain and upgrade our highway?
If yes, then why are we having the same issue again?
Can we be innovative and do a little different this time?
There are countries along the equator with similar geography like us but they’ve solved it.
Can we learn from them?
It is much better be innovative or learning from other countries than using our old dog method of maintenance and upgrading.
