THE Morobe Football Association (MFA) got its season proper underway at the Papua New Guinea Football Association Academy a fortnight ago.
A total of 33 teams, including new teams Monse FC, Farm Mate FC, Mixed United FC, Zaniu United FC and Towa FC, are participating in this year’s competition.
Competition coordinator Alex Toki said top clubs like Bumayong, Bugandi, Eriku Wawens, Poro, Kalmorrie, Sentas, Potsie and Panamex will help raise the level of competition.
Toki said 17 teams were from within Lae and 14 from along the Okuk Highway.
He said interest had picked up since the competition kicked off a fortnight ago.
“We have teams coming from Okuk Highway and as far as 40 mile, including Wau Bulolo Highway,” Toki said.
“On behalf of the MFA executives, I would like to thank PNGFA Education Centre director Edris Kumbruwah for allowing us to use the facilities to run our competition once again this year.”
