Wake up parents, do your job

Letters

THIS is an open letter about the poor discipline in our schools.
The poor teachers have been bombarded through the media and blamed for the deteriorating education standards and the students’ ill-discipline in schools.
Is education not a shared responsibility?
There are countless factors that contribute to the two issues.
Disciple should begin at home when the child is still young.
In the classroom, a teacher only adds value and morale to enhance the child’s already ingrained sense of discipline. This prevents the teacher from wasting his or her time trying to do the parents’ job.
The trend today is to lump everything with the teacher and when things don’t work out, blame the teacher while the parents lie back at home and wash their hands of any sense of responsibility.
Come on parents, wake up and do your job.
