Duma power breaker

Letters

WILLIAM Duma was a power breaker when his factions left Peter O’Neill to join the opposition camp at Laguna on the promise of Prime Minister candidacy.
After secret ballot voting, Duma missed out.
Still, if Duma was smart enough and used his conscience and returned to O’Neill, it would have been different story.
When James Marape was elected Prime Minister with 101 members, the loyalty of Duma’s number to Marape went unnoticed with party leader not given any ministry portfolio.
Duma would have known better that even the Prime Minister’s candidacy spoke otherwise; a ministry portfolio would have been given to him to accord him with respect since he brought his 11 members from his party to the Opposition camp resulting in the formation of the new government.
But it’s anyone’s guess as Duma was used as scapegoat for their personal gain.
As the saying goes, “do not count the chicks before they hatch”.
Go back to drawing board as 2022 is not far from over.
