THE Committal Court in Waigani has dismissed the case of a man charged with impersonation and false pretence because police cannot find the complainant.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar yesterday struck out Adrean Sogen’s case after four months of waiting for police to contact the complainant who lives in Lae.
Sogen, 24, from Kerota, Sohe, Oro was charged with obtaining money by false pretence and pretending to be a doctor at the Lae International Hospital.
It is alleged that in 2018, Sogen told Robert that he was a doctor at the hospital.
Sogen allegedly told Robert that his step-mother who resides in Lae was a Customs broker who dealt with imported vehicles sale and auction at Lae Port.
Robert wanted to buy a car and allegedly deposited K50,000 into Sogen’s bank account in instalments between Sept 2018 and Feb this year.
In April, Sogen allegedly called Robert asking for K1,000 to clear K10 million in his bank account. He paid that too.
He and his friends tracked down Sogen at the Boroko Apex Park and took him to Hohola police station where he allegedly admitted that he was not a doctor nor was he employed.
