THE Hiri district sports tournament that was delayed will start next Tuesday.
The event will be held at the Laloki High School and Tubusereia village, Central.
Representatives from Hiri had a meeting and decided that the tournament be held at two different venues due lack of sporting fields.
Except for cricket, dart and table tennis, most sports will be held at the Laloki High School oval.
Hiri Sports Council president Kohu Seneka said the three-day tournament would see participants competing in touch rugby, basketball, soccer, volleyball, netball, softball, cricket, table tennis and darts.
There will be four teams – two men’s and two women’s – competing in various divisions for the respective sports.
Teams comprise four zones of Hiri East, Hiri West, Vanapa Brown and Koiari.
Koiari will be the only side fielding two softball teams.
Seneka said the team and player registration fees were K400 and K20 respectively. The deadline for payments is today.
Participants are advised that touch rugby and basketball competitions will be held at Laloki High School oval next Tuesday. This will be followed by soccer, volleyball and netball next Thursday. The games will be held at Laloki High School oval.
Cricket, table tennis and darts will be held at Tubusereia village on Feb 2.
A Hiri district squad will be selected to participate in the Central provincial challenge which is expected to be held during the first term break.
