PRIME Minister James Marape will lead a delegation to attend the inauguration of Bougainville President-elect Ishmael Toroama tomorrow.
He will also be discussing with Toroama the Joint Supervisory Body Committee meeting planned for the end of this year and the small-medium enterprise funding of K20 million.
Minister for Bougainville Affairs Sir Puka Temu said the priority for the Government was Bougainville’s post-referendum stage.
“The Government recognises the importance of Bougainville, the importance of building bridges between the leaders, that we are maintaining open communication, dialogue, trust, respect and we maintain our roles and responsibilities the constitution allows for us,” he said.
“Commitment to the peace agreement remains 100 per cent under the prime minister. We have continued to work after the referendum results and the ABG elections.”
Sir Puka said the Government was ready to discuss Bougainville’s self-determination.
“We have now entered the post-referendum stage where consultations and discussions on Bougainville’s self-determination will be high on the agenda.
“Preparations have been done and once the Bougainville House of Representatives is settled, work will begin, work we hope that will reap amicable results, work we hope that is fluid enough but strong at will to realise Bougainville’s self-determination,” Sir Puka said.
