THOUSANDS of students who graduated from the Mogol Secondary School in Southern Highlands will remember the atrocious 5km road from the Karel turn-off to the school.
The problems faced by students and teachers in walking the distance with their belongings at the start and end of terms in Mendi will now be a distant memory as sealing and upgrading is in progress.
The K9 million project by contractor BKC Construction Ltd was launched last June and work is progressing.
At the same time a K1.5 rural electrification project is continuing from Karel to Mogol Secondary.
During the launching of the two projects last year at Karel junction, MP and Works Minister Michael Nali said the Government, faced with many challenges, had released K7 million and the provincial government counter-funded with K2 million.
He said the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Ltd added K500,000 and PNG Power Ltd stepped in with a K1 million rural electrification project.
