THREE teams will treat the two remaining games as finals in their bid to win a spot in the top five as Port Moresby men’s softball competition nears its completion.
Dolphins, Samurai and Bears will be fighting tooth and nail to win their respective matches starting this weekend in the hope of securing the fifth spot.
All three teams face a mammoth task in their endeavour to make the finals for this season.
The former glamour team AB Bears will be up against giant killers Brown Eagles.
Bears are no longer the team given their money’s worth of entertainment. However, the boys from Matupit, comprising of youngsters Trevor Taule and Manu ToAlbert are sure of putting a gallant performance on Sunday.
Last week, the boys from Matupit Island caused a major upset by defeating competition leaders PNG Power 1-0 and are expected to repeat the same dosage against the New Irelanders.
Samurai faces a climbing-Mt Everest-type task when they meet third-placed Lae Biscuit Gazelle.
The antelopes will have too much power over Samurai despite having Pius Volt and Esau Vinarang as their pitchers.
Brothers, who are currently in second spot, led by Dick Bart Jr, will have to watch out for Dolphins.
Dolphins need the win more than Brothers, so it should be an interesting match to complete the weekend at the Bisini Diamonds.
In the other matches, PNG Power should beat Kopex while Manta will tame Douglas Paak-coached Defence.
The top four sides are PNG Power, Brothers, Gazelle and Mantarays while Dolphins, Samurai and Bears will fight for the remaining fifth spot while Brown Eagles, Kopex and Defence will wait until next season.
The point ladder as of last weekend: PNG Power 27, Brothers 24, Gazelle 23, Mantarays 19, Dolphins 14, Samurai 14, Bears 13, Brown Eagles 11, Kopex eight and Defence seven.
