POLICE in Jiwaka will use force to clear the roadblock leading towards the Fatima Catholic station if frustrated landowners are reluctant to cooperate with the people in authorities to address their landowner compensation claims.

Police gave the landowners yesterday afternoon to clear the road block or they will move in and arrest parties involved.

Provincial police commander, Joseph Tondop said a team from the governor’s office will meet and will be negotiating with the landowners.

The negotiating team includes Jiwaka deputy administrator for corperate services, Joe Karap, governor’s chief executive officer, Andrew Mangi and himself.

He said Governor William Tongamp was aware of the issues of the  landowners when they tried to stop the grade 10 and 12 national examinations in October last year.

Tondop said Tongamp  raised the issue with the department of finance and treasury and it is in progress.

“Governor Tongamp has raised it in the national level.”
