A beauty pageant, not art show

I agree with all the writers who expressed their disappointment and outrage over the performance of Miss PNG at the Miss South Pacific pageant.
Her team ought to be ashamed for not preparing properly for this event.
It showed in her tradition costume design, song chosen, etc.
Why can’t they just play sweet song of the bird of paradise instead of a pop song?
This was not an art show for crying out loud, it was a beauty pageant!
Why paint Miss PNG’s face which stood out like a sore thumb amidst all the beauties dressed in their traditional costumes?
We call PNG a place of a million journeys.
It should have been easy to put together a costume that showed off the highlands, NGI, Momase and southern regions.
The grass skirt is a common costume found in almost all provinces, beautiful bilum wear, tapa dress, bird of paradise and other colourful feathers, boars’ tusks, etc.
Remember, a simple costume speaks a thousand words.
To sum it up, the whole affair was outrageous and a disaster.

Major disappointment
