ONE thing for sure is PNG citizens no longer feel safe.
I witnessed a cold-blooded murder near the Gerehu bus stop on Tuesday night.
The victim was walking home when he was attacked and stabbed .
Those of us who witnessed the incident rushed to the Gerehu police to report it but the officers on duty pretended not to see us and continued chatting.
Imagine our frustrations as the suspects were given more time to leave the area.
By the time the police decided to attend to us, the incident had happened more than an hour ago.
It is a disgrace when the people we turned to for help were not willing to step forward.
This has made me wonder just how many murder cases have gone unreported thanks to the “efficiency” of our policemen.
As a taxpayer, I expect better services than that.
No wonder crime rate in the city has gone up.
I appeal to the NCD governor, the NCD metropolitan commander and the commissioner to address the poor attitude and keep the city safe.
