A nincompoop’s shallow political rhetoric

Letters, Normal

I REFER to the letter “The bigger picture WHP wants to see” (The National, Sept 1) by “Kru Kupildi Whoo” of Mt Hagen.
Kupildi means nincompoop in our language.
As such, how can the writer justify his/her allegations of corruption against people like Prof John Nonggorr, Paul Mawa, John Piel, Gabriel Pepson and Wai Kitts among others?
These people have given up the bright lights of Port Moresby to go back home and to serve the province or who reside in Port Moresby but travel home regularly to help their people.
The writer has tarnished the good name of this elite group of leaders.
It is an insult to the intelligence of other Western Highlanders who hold these leaders in high regard.
It shows the writer’s naivete and a befuddled state of mind to question the integrity and intelligence of these gentlemen by asking such ridiculous questions and employing distorted facts.
For the writer’s information, this group of leaders are men of integrity, high moral ethics and intelligence.
Only time will tell their purported meeting is good for the province as it is the first time elite leaders from the different corners and tribes of Western Highlands unite to work together to see the bigger picture.
If they put their resources and the influence they have in business and government, I am sure there will be a lot of healing and recovery for the wounded pride of Western Highlands.
The writer should appreciate the efforts of these leaders and support them in their endeavour to develop and strengthen Western Highlands.
