Karimui MP and LLG heads asleep

Letters, Normal

ON behalf of the silent majority, I would like to air our frustration and dissatisfaction with the failure of the Karimui-Nomane MP to bring basic services to the electorate.
There are some 36,300 people living in the district, which has a huge landmass.
Our soil is very fertile for agricultural purposes and we have a big natural forest to sustain us.
However, the district is in a sad state of affair and we are wondering when we will get to see tangible development projects.
The airstrip, roads, foot bridges, aid posts, health centres, DPI, police stations, telephone, education facilities, LLG office and other vital services are non-existence.
The people are wondering where our mandated leaders – MP Posi Menai and LLG presidents Mathan Nepi, Thomas Bare and Bai Mare – have gone to.
Instead of staying in the electorate, the leaders have decided to operate by remote control by staying in Kundiawa, Goroka, Hagen or Port Moresby.
Who are they representing?
Since these leaders were elected in 2002 and 2007, we have not seen any tangible developments in the Karimi-Nomane.
I call on the Office of Rural Development (ORD), Ombudsman Commission (OC) and Transparency International to conduct a thorough investigation and go through the books of Karimui-Nomane electorate.
As far as I know, Karimui-Nomane has no ward, LLG and district development plan to date.
The district needs a strong leader to drive the province forward.
Otherwise good advice and plans will fall in a deaf ear.
