ABOUT 300 people received their land titles from Lae MP and Lands and Physical Planning Minister John Rosso on Friday.
Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu witnessed the occasion for those who managed to get a title after years of uncertainty when they drifted from place to place.
The majority of the people who received the titles were from the Tent City suburb while others were from other suburbs within the Lae urban local government council wards.
Among the recipients was former Morobe premier Christian Titi, a resident of Tent City.
Rosso told The National that there was a lot of misconception by people on social media that they were giving out titles to people living on settlement land.
“They are not settlements – they are suburbs,” he explained, referring to the suburb of East Taraka, Tent City, Miles area (2-4-Mile), Papuan Compound, Seventh Street and others in and around Lae.
