TEWAE-Siassi MP Dr Kobby Bomareo claims poor management is running down Etep Rural Hospital in his electorate.
“I would blame Lutheran health services (LHS) for not putting in the right administrators,” Bomareo said.
“It’s not money but the managers’ incapability that is running down the rural hospital.
“Everyone points fingers at the Government but Etep is a Lutheran church-run facility and the national government provides funds through the Christian health services.
“LHS has never come clear on its operations and its handling of health services across the nation, Etep is one of them.”
Lutheran National Health secretary Katu Yapi said LHS took its service seriously and since 2018, had identified and replaced non-performing hospital administrators at Etep.
“So far, we’ve replaced about two in 2019 and last year, because the administrators recruited had bad work attitude,” he said.
“Those people we replaced did not properly hand over so we have that issue.
“But administration of Etep would still be successful if we have funding.”
