Absent teachers

IT is important that students are taught planned lessons consistently from Monday to Friday.
This, however, cannot happen if the lecturers and teachers are absent from work.
Teacher absenteeism is a topic that is discussed often at school management board meetings but nothing happens after that because the provincial education board and the national education board don’t seem to take the issue seriously. Teacher absenteeism seems to be a problem confined to Papua New Guinea where teachers are forever on holidays and absent yet still collecting their pay in full.
Students suffer as a result.
