MINISTER for Agriculture and Livestock Benny Allan announced the appointment of Francis Daink as the acting Secretary for the Department of Agriculture and Livestock (DAL) yesterday.
Allan told a media conference in Port Moresby that Dr Vele Pat I’lava’s term as secretary had expired and Daink, who is the deputy secretary for policy planning and coordination division at DAL, would fill the vacuum for three months.
“While the permanent recruitment process is underway, the Government through the appropriate appointing authority has appointed Daink to be the acting secretary,” Allan said.
“I commend him on his appointment, he will fill the vacancy and provide leadership in the department to ensure key government policies and agendas are implemented to deliver on the government’s vision and aspirations.”
The minister announced that based on the success of the first agriculture summit in Port Moresby last year, the second summit would be held in Lae this month and details of the event would
be made available through the media.
