MOROBE Governor Ginson Saonu introduced a 100-day activity plan to public servants in the province yesterday.
He told a brief meeting attended by provincial administrator Bart Ipambonj, divisional heads and public servants that there was a need to set the focus and objectivity to move the province forward.
The 100-day plan is to take control of and put into order the basic areas of government structures, being the office administration and operations, provincial administration, provincial government business investment, district administration and LLG administration.
Saonu said one of the key outcomes expected was for the province to generate a K1 billion budget by the year 2022.
“Other areas like misuse of funds, ghost accounts and incompetent public servants that are delaying the province’s progress will also be identified through this activity plan once implemented,” he said.
Morobe public servants and politicians must be responsive to the people of Morobe.
All divisions are urged to review their budgets, cut off wastages, lay off non-essential programmes and fund the 100-day plan as priority.
Saonu told public servants that whoever failed to conform to the directive would be asked to leave.
“Project design for all sectors are in progress and once finished, the provincial administrator and I will market it for funding in partnership with development partners over the next few years,” he said.
Ipambonj said the plan created a roadmap for re-alignment of key areas.
He said he would focus on restoring all three levels of administration and make sure they were working effectively.
He said a major focus for the province was road network with the other provinces that shared border with Morobe.
