ASIAN Development Bank is ready to work with all the countries in the Asia Pacific region to build connectively in the region, a bank official said.

ADB vice-president knowledge management and sustainable development Bambang Susantono, who attended the Pacific Island Forum leaders’ meeting last week said ADB was ready for the construction of infrastructure.

He said there were three main areas that the bank was looking at to support countries – connectivity in the island countries, development of information communication technology and marine and fisheries.

“We stand ready for whatever the island would like us to do, especially in these three areas.

“The first one is under connectivity so this can be made time connectivity as well as the land connectively in the islands and within the islands and intra-islands.

“There is inter and intra islands and we would like to support projects on connectivity for these areas.

“Second one is the future connectivity because some of the island countries would like to develop the ICT, the telecommunications. This is also another dimension of connective, not only the hard connective but also the future connectivity.

“The third thing is on the marine and fisheries, I think for most of the PIF leaders, this is one of the areas that they would like to have.

After attending the PIF leaders meeting, the vice-president visited two ADB-funded projects in Mt Hagen and Brown River along the Hiritano Highway.
