Address high tax on workers

Letters

I REFER to the article “Association to address tax issue” in The National on Monday (Jan 20).
I am one of those long serving public servants working in Enga.
I thought the public employees association (PEA) had been abolished long ago.
I am surprise to read that the association recently took notice of the huge taxes imposed on public servants.
The PEA under the leadership of previous president Napoleon Liosi, (ex-police commissioner) was very vocal.
He was a powerful leader who fought for the welfare of public servants.
It seems that the association has just woken up from a slumber.
Can the association stand up and do something for the hard working public servants?
The Nagora Bogan report was a waste of public money.
What are the recommendations from the report?
They have been paid for nothing.
Where is that report?
I was told they protect multinational companies.
They recommend tax holidays.
Please PEA, wake up from your deep sleep and address the hard hitting taxes imposed on the public servants, such as the 35 per cent tax on the gratuity on senior public servants contracts.
This is pure robbery, for a hard earned entitlement.
This should be tax free.
What about the taxes on the public servants leave pays, resignations and retirements, etc…
Why is the PEA sleeping and not doing something?
Please do something.

Very Frustrated,
