Address law, order issues in Jiwaka

Letters

JIWAKA was once a good, friendly and peaceful place loved by all and everybody called it their home; a place most would want to spend their holidays.
Suddenly, it turned violent and into a cowboy country.
Crime is prevalent with killings, shootings, slashing, properties destroyed and all bad things happening.
Are we under some kind of curse or is it deliberately done?
Jiwaka is not even progressing in terms of development and service delivery nor managing its own affairs as a province.
People in authority have failed us in all aspects together with the law enforcing agencies.
People no longer respect the rule of law; instead take the law into their own hands when solving problems.
Therefore in every given situation, it requires mature approach, proper analysis, and wise decisions to stop violence from further accelerating.
When there is a problem, let’s report the matter to police, community leaders or involve peace mediating team to settle in court.
What good are we going to get out of tribal fights? None.
Sadly the damages done to properties within minutes would be real and lives lost in the process would be irreplaceable and painful. Therefore in any given situation, let’s apply the above mentioned approach and we should discourage tribal fighting.
Community leaders should come together and discuss solutions to restore normalcy and talk development, education and business (SME). Proactive actions would solve conflicts and transform the community for the better.
Life is short, we should learn to appreciate, forgive and forget because these are the true virtues and best medicine to happiness and peaceful living.
Encourage people to love each other and be good to others.

Concern Citizen,
Jiwaka
