THE Department of Personnel Management will notify respective agencies to take heed of the dates to ensure essential and emergency services are maintained during the festive season, secretary Taies Sansan says.
She said this in a circular advising all department heads for the Christmas and New Year shut down period on Tuesday.
Sansan said all line agencies were to take note of the following dates:

  • DEC 24, 2021 – working day to lunch time;
  • DEC 25, 2021 – Christmas Day;
  • DEC 26, 2021 – Boxing Day;
  • DEC 27, 2021 – public holiday; and,
  • DEC 28-31, 2021 – designated days off (1). Sansan clarified that the four days outlined as designated day-offs were paid shutdown days and were not to be accrued if not taken.

She said they were allocated days for the convenience of closing of government offices, however, officers who were required to work to cater for essential and rostered arrangements would not be paid overtime but awarded a paid day off at a later time.
Sansan said the Finance Department and Immigration and Citizenship Authority would continue to work as normal under the arrangements set out.
She said public servants were required to report back for normal duties after New Year on Jan 3, 2022.
