MOROBE’S newly confirmed programme adviser Keith Tangui says his immediate task is to finalise the province’s five-year education plan.
Tangui recently signed a three-year contract after filling the position in an acting capacity for over a year.
He highlighted his vision to implement the Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu’s slogan to “Take back Morobe” through education.
He said the five-year education plan would be done in consultation with the national education plan.
Tangui said he would revisit the Provincial Education Act 2016 to incorporate all the education reforms currently taking place.
He said all schools in Morobe had been screened and properly registered as of July.
Tangui said all teachers had signed their entitlement forms and these documents had been submitted to the head office in Port Moresby.
He also revealed the need for new administration staff to run the Morobe education office.
Tangui confirmed that about six administrative positions were currently occupied by teachers who were being employed by the PNG Teaching Service Commission.
“They were borrowed from schools and placed there to fill roles such as assistant appointment officer and assistant exam officer for over five years now,” he said.
“We will be working together with our human resource team to make those positions as provincial government positions and have people with administration backgrounds fill them.”
