THE 2018 Esiloan Port Moresby AFL competition kicks off tomorrow with the Lightning 12s for the men’s division.
The Port Moresby AFL advisory board confirmed the start of the season in the first meeting of the year last Thursday.
Sitting in chairman Loi Bakani said the Lightning 12s pre-season would have prize money up for grabs and also encouraged the teams to get organised for the season which would likely start after Easter.
Last year’s season was disrupted with the elections and the International Cup in Melbourne, Australia, which the PNG Mosquitoes won.
“This year will see a smooth and fast season for Port Moresby and we will be looking forward to getting teams ready for the seniors national championships which will be confirmed in a few weeks,” competition manager Rex Leka said.
Last year champions Lamana Dockers, runners-up Koboni, Bomana Cats, Oilmin Kokofas, West Eagles and Gereka Central Bombers have confirmed their participation.
The board called all the clubs to meet today at 5.30pm at the Colts Oval to register their teams and pick up the draws.
All team officials are to contact Rex Leka on 73900321/76094716 for more information.
