AFRICAN popstar Mampi will arrive in Port Moresby tomorrow for a week-long visit that will include live performances and charity drives.

She will entertain fans for two consecutive nights at a gala event on Friday and a public concert on Saturday at Papua New Guinea’s new nightclub, The Cosmopolitan, at Vision City.

Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsors will go towards a proposed “school of excellence” aimed at supporting creative talent in the country,  a vision of the organisers Sapience and Videoworx.

“Mampi’s career had humble beginnings but driven by core values, she has been able to achieve success and she will be here to encourage Papua New Guineans,” Francis Sakala, of Sapience, said.

She will take part in a campaign for the National AIDS Council Secretariat and will visit the Cheshire Home on Thursday and Friday.

Organisers say the Zambian has become a top act around the world.

Tickets for Mampi’s shows will be going at K75 for general entry, and K150 for the VIP gala event, and can be bought at FoneHaus stores in Vision City, Boroko, downtown and Trophy Haus at Waterfront Foodworld.
