Agarobe plans big-scale farming for Central

CENTRAL Governor Robert Agarobe plans to have people in the procinve’s rural areas engage in large-scale farming.
Speaking during the Central government assembly meeting in Port Moresby on Tuesday, Agarobe said that under the agricultural development plan, each district would concentrate on a certain type of crop.
“Goilala coffee was recently rated third in the country,” Agarobe said.
“If Goilala can concentrate on coffee alone while other districts specify one crop each, we would improve the agricultural economy of the province.
“Abau will focus only on sugar while Kairuku will farm rice.”
Agarobe asked the seven chairmen to present their executive statements and reports their division’s progress and development.
Only two were presented.
Chairman for works infrastructure and housing, Rigo Central local level government president Fred Silona presented his statement.
After him was chairman for health and HIV-AIDS and Tapini local level goverment president Keleto Kope.
The meeting was adjourned to Sept 26.
