AN international agency has donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) costing more than K1 million to the Health Department to support Covid-19 front-liners.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) official Dr Titilola Duro-Aina said the agency provided kit supplies, hand sanitisers, goggles and KN95 masks costing around US$300,000 (K1,042319.70) to the health authority.
He said PPEs would be distributed to family and sexual support centres and health care workers.
UNFPA official Steven Paniu and Duro-Aina handed over the supplies to Department of Health population and family health manager Dr Eward Waramun on Friday.
They delivered PPEs earlier this year to Western and parts of Milne Bay.
Now they are catering for Autonomous Region of Bougainville, the National Capital District, East New Britain, Morobe and Southern Highlands.
“We were having organisations assisting in providing medical services but they are not provided with personal protective Equipment to protect themselves,” Duro-Aina said.
