THE Port Moresby Nature Park will continue its schools education programme for the rest of the year, says chief executive officer Michelle McGeorge.
More than 24,000 school children in the National Capital District have made use of the schools excursion programme.
“Each year, the Nature park educates students by providing enhanced programmes that supports teachers in learning outcomes within PNG’s curriculum for students from Prep to grade 12,” McGeorge said.
Nature park has four education programmes with each catering for more than 3,000 students.
The first programme, in May, connected children to the wild life.
The second, last month, focused on the environment and was all about recycling rubbish and tins.
This month’s programme is to celebrate five years of support by the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) transport department. “Without the support of the NCDC and its buses, we would not be able to run our themed programmes,” McGeorge said.
The culture connect programme will run for the rest of the month highlighting the important role that our cultures play on the preservation and protection of the natural environment and wildlife. It is free for students.
