THE Simbu health authority (PHA) and Oxfam International have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work in partnership to deliver the Coronavirus (Covid-19) response programmes.
PHA chief executive officer Dr Francis Wandi, director of public health Tonzi Aure and Oxfam International country director Eunice Wotene signed the MoU to implement programmes immediately in Chimbu’s six districts.
The agreement aims to enhance the resilience of the Covid-19 affected communities and protect against a spike in cases.
It will also allow efforts to enable access for improved water, sanitation and health facilities.
Other issues being worked at were improving livelihoods, response mechanisms to address gender-based violence, sorcery-related violence, family and sexual violence, improving disaster risk management and other protection concerns.
“Oxfam will be working closely with the PHA to implement and address these issues and roll out the programmes in Chimbu,” Wotene said. “The agreement outlines commitments, roles and responsibilities of Oxfam and the PHA in supporting the Covid-19 interventions.”
