a small agro-business entity in East New Britain (ENB) is committed to assisting farmers in the province.
AgBook Agri-Business Training Consultant is operating in collaboration with the Cocoa Board of PNG to deliver key aspects of micro- business in agriculture training to communities.
AgBook managing director Nicole Isifu said the coronavirus pandemic was testing the country’s ability to venture into small agricultural business spin-offs.
Isifu said agriculture was an integral part of the economy and developing and protecting it needed to be a top priority.
“People should now venture into subsistence farming, and encouraging backyard farming including participating in small scale agricultural businesses to promote food security,” she said.
Isifu said agriculture was important and families were encourage to venture into it as it would increase capacity in food creation to supply the local community.
She said the Government’s commitment to supporting the agriculture sector in the country was important for farmers.
Isifu said their aim in providing enough training was to impart new knowledge.
