THE ID 24 Agros take on the 9-Mile Dwellers in the NCD Governor’s Cup rugby league grand final today at Kone Tigers Oval, Waigani.
The cup final was deferred to today after rain disrupted games in Port Moresby yesterday afternoon.
Argros coach Junior Kero said his side were anticipating a torrid encounter with the Dwellers, who are the Governor’s Cup defending champions.
“I think they’ll use their experienced hands like McKenzie Buka and Supa George to try to dominate us,” Kero said.
“That’s how they managed to beat Morata in the preliminary final. They have some hard-running backs from last year’s team and a few new faces who we need to watch.”
Kero said his team were undefeated in this year’s tournament and were confident heading into the decider against the Dwellers.
“We may be a smaller, but we have a game plan that will give us a chance of winning,” Kero said.
The Agros will be looking to centre Mondo John, Paul Tapie, Joe Patrick and Sydney Mara in the forward pack to make the difference and five-eighth Wanpis Tuli to direct the offence and do the kicking.
Kero, who is first timer in the role of coach, said he was excited about how well the side had been playing and was enjoying the experience.
The plate and bowl grand finals were completed yesterday.
The Gerehu United beat Giluwe Tribes 6-0 to win the bowl final and in the plate final, the Bandicoots of Morata 2 edged 9-Mile Dwarfs 6-0.
The presentations would be after the cup final today.
