THE ID24 Agros beat the 9-Mile Dwellers 6-2 to win the 2018 NCD Governor’s Christmas Cup at the Kone Tigers Oval on Friday.
The Agros recieved K10,000.
The finals in all three divisions — cup, plate and bowl — were staged in rainy conditions.
Despite the wet weather, Agros put on a great defensive display and were led well by captain and halfback Joel Tapie.
The Warah Hire Cars-sponsored Dwellers scored first through a penalty by halfback McKenzie Buka for a 2-0 lead in the first half.
The Agros worked their way into Dwellers 20m and Tapie took a second-man ball from hooker Junior Kessy to go over the line next to the uprights and the ensuing conversion saw his side take a 6-2 lead.
The conditions ensured the game was mired with continuous errors with neither side able to mount any pressure on the opposition line. The Dwellers earned K400 for their effort as the cup runners-up.
Second secretary to the NCD Governor Simon Nichodemus presented the trophy and cash prizes to the teams.
Bandicoots beat 9-Mile Dwarfs 6-0 in the plate final while Gerehu United beat the Ialibu Hawks 6-0 in the bowl final.
