OUSTED Ambunti-Dreikikir MP Tony Waterupu Aimo is claiming in his election dispute filed on July 26 in the Waigani National Court that his successor, Ezekiel Anisi, was under 25 years of age and that disqualifies him from becoming an MP.
He claimed that Anisi was not a registered voter and not eligible to nominate to contest or vote in the elections.
Anisi unseated Aimo after polling 8,141 votes and was declared the new member-elect for the Ambunti-Dreikikir open electorate in East Sepik on July 17 at Ambunti station.
Aimo, a National Alliance party candidate, polled 6,634 votes to finish second.
Aimo filed a dispute through his lawyer, Tony Waisi, of Waisi Lawyers, in the Waigani National Court against Anisi on two grounds:
l    Anisi’s  particulars of ineligibility under section 103 (1) of the Constitution; and
l    Anisi’s name was not on the electoral roll.
Waisi said the dispute was filed on qualification grounds and had nothing to do with other issues such as tampering of ballot papers or voter irregularities.
