Airport boasts benefits from Apec

THE National Airports Corporation is already benefitting from the hosting of Apec in the country, through the major redevelopment done at Jackson International Airport, says managing director Richard Yopo.
Yopo said if it was not for the event, the airport would not have undergone the major facelift that had changed it.
“Some people in our country are complaining about what benefits Apec would bring to the country. At NAC, we have already seen the benefits,” Yopo said.
For example, the airport apron or tarmac previously could only cater for five jumbo jets. Now it accommodate 10.
“The airport has received a massive facelift which includes the overlaying of the runway covering about 2750 metres, extension of the apron and a new VIP terminal facility with car parks,” he said.
