Airport to undergo K68mil upgrade through investment programme

THE Wewak Airport in East Sepik will undergo a K68.63 million upgrade under the Government’s civil aviation development investment programme.
The National Airports Corporation (NAC) made the announcement yesterday. Under the Wewak Airport redevelopment project, a new terminal, parking facilities and an airport market will be built.
Work will include the resealing of the runway, taxiway alpha and its apron, strengthening taxiway bravo, construction of staff houses and other construction work.
The airports redevelopment work is led by the National Airports Corporation project implementation unit and is funded by Asian Development Bank with counterpart funding from the Government.
The project is expected to be completed next October by China Shenyang International Cooperation.
