HELA Governor Philip Undialu has welcomed the decision to upgrade Tari Airport and have it fenced at a total cost of K63 million.
The National Airports Corporation last Friday signed a contract with Hela Opene Investments Ltd for the security fencing costing K7.2 million. The pavement strengthening, new terminal building and associated works are to be done by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and Gansu Mechanized Construction Engineering at a cost of K55.8 million.
“It is a blessing,” he said.
The project is part of the 10-year Civil Aviation Development Investment Programme funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Government since 2009 to upgrade and maintain airports.
“Tari airport is one of the strategic airports in this country.”
