Airport ‘will stay open’ during Apec

THE Jackson international and domestic airports in Port Moresby will not be closed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders’ Summit next month, according to the National Airport Corporation. Chief executive and managing director Richard Yopo was responding to an email being circulated stating that the airport would be closed from Nov 9 to 19. Yopo said that was fake news.
“This statement is totally incorrect and is fake news of the worst type, creating unnecessary worry for the public and the aviation community,” Yopo said. “While there may be disruptions to flights between Nov 16 and 18 during the flights of the leaders, the NAC and the airlines have been working very hard to minimise flight disruptions during this period,” he said
“The terminals will not be closed to commercial flights during Apec.”
