THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) yesterday announced a new accommodation partnership deal with Airways Hotel in Port Moresby.
PNGRFL chief executive officer Reatau Rau said the partnership would cover accommodation for the visiting Intrust Super Cup teams that travel into Port Moresby to play the SP PNG Hunters.
“As you know part of our agreement to participate in the Queensland Cup is to provide accommodation for all visiting teams,” Rau said.
“It’ll be a great opportunity to be attached to a legendary hotel like Airways which is locally owned.”
Rau said the added value to having teams stay there gave the players an environment they ccould enjoy.
“There’s space where they can walk around, a pool they can use for rehab, recreational areas to enjoy and first class service provided for their comfort,” Rau said.
Rau said the announcement was timely as the participation agreement in the Q-Cup would be signed in Brisbane today.
“On Thursday will be the first Q-Cup club CEOs meeting and they will be advised that they will be accommodated at Airways Hotel on away trips to Port Moresby.”
Hotel operations manager Manu Bajaj said: “We’re more than happy to be a part of PNG RFL and to support rugby league. We wish all the teams the best this season.”
