Central sides compete well in Dabari trials

CENTRAL Dabari are expected to trim their squad to 50 after holding their first trial at Bava Park on Friday.
The three trial matches were witnessed by a number of fans, showing that despite not playing a Digicel Cup match the franchise already has a following.
Dabari chief executive officer Hubert Warupi, pictured, said the squad comprised a balance of talent from the districts and experienced players from the Port Moresby Rugby League.
Warupi said selectors headed by Gairo Plepena and Kera Ngaffkin had the task to reduce the squad to a final 30 in two week’s time.
“We have plans for the players who do not make the final squad. They will be called up for curtainraiser matches or the playing roster over the season,” Warupi said.
Dabari franchise owner and deputy chairman Vikki Mosin, board chairman Keith Iduhu, head coach Enara and Southern Confedereate director Gwaibo Mairi witnessed the games.
