ACTING Eastern Highlands administrator Samson Akunaii has warned about “fraudsters” going around using the administrator’s name and office to obtain goods and services.
Akunaii said this yesterday after receiving reports that certain people were going around using the name of the provincial administrator to obtain goods and services on credit with the promise to pay later.
“There are certain people in the province who are claiming to represent the provincial administrator of Eastern Highlands,” he said.
“These rogue elements are using this to solicit money, hire vehicles and obtain goods and services from innocent and unsuspecting individuals and business houses in the province.
“This is daylight robbery and the population of Eastern Highlands are warned to take precaution in dealing with sweet-talking fraudsters.”
He called on the public in the province to be wary and report these people to police if they came across them.
Akunaii said the provincial administration would not accept any liability incurred by these individuals obtaining goods and services by false pretences.
“Business houses and individuals who have provided money, goods and services to these elements have done so at their own risk,” he said.
