SP Hunters forward Stanton Albert says he is excited about the opportunity to work alongside his rookie squad members as they head into the second week of pre-season training.
The 25-year-old said on Monday that the focus for much of the team was building on their fitness while getting to know each other better after week one of training.
“We’re trying to focus on our fitness,” Albert said.
“But when we split into our groups of backs and forwards, it’s going to be good because we got some of our players coming through from the Digicel Cup and we can share our experiences with them.
“We’ve been sharing with the new players what the Hunters’ lifestyle is like and the culture in the team and how we operate.
“The first week of the pre-season training went very well, the new boys and those of us who have been in the team previously were all pushing hard and the coach was happy with our efforts.”
Albert said all the players had agreed on the Hunters’ relocation to Queensland for next season in the Intrust Super Cup.
He said the senior players were ready to lead the Hunters.
“I’m happy to move,” Albert said.
“I’ve spoken with my family and they’ve all agreed on my relocation for the entire season.
“It’s the same with the other players in the squad.
“We had a week to go back home and discuss with our families, get their opinions and we’ve all agreed on the relocation.”
