Albert out for 6 weeks

SP PNG Hunters prop Stanton Albert is down for six weeks with right knee injury sustained in a Digicel Cup match for the Mendi Muruks.
Albert said he would do mostly rehabilitation work as well as a light fitness programme to stay in shape while his knee healed.
Albert said his knee had collided with another player’s knee, bruising the joint and not allowing him to finish the game.
“This is one of the risks of playing in the Digicel Cup. It happens and it’s good that I’m going to miss games but I’ll keep training and get back to fitness,” Albert said.
Albert last played for the Hunters in Round 4 against the Easts Tigers in Brisbane.
He was dropped after that game and went on to play for the Muruks where he picked up the injury.
“It’s an old knee injury that I’m going through again but I feel after four weeks I should be back in intensive training but that all depends on the doctor’s clearance.
“Whatever they say I’m always available as we go through the Q-Cup with several experience players we have.
“We all know what is expected of us and we all go together as a team to play to our best.”
Albert admitted that it was tough after losing several key players to UK and Queensland clubs but they were committed to getting back their season by winning games and eyeing a shot at the top eight.
“This is like starting fresh with the our new guys coming in and learning and fine tuning and given the nod by coach Marum to see what comes out of them.
“I give credit to the coach for keeping up to it whether we win or lose he keeps on going and doing his job. I know we’ll get there when the timing is right for us with the younger troops maturing properly midway through the season.
“One thing I always tell myself and all of us knows this is, we all play for our country and our people who have a lot pride and winning games for them is our priority,” Albert said.
