Alienated by eviction

Letters

WHY on earth am I feeling alienated and marginalised in my own God-given land?
I am being dispossessed, betrayed by my own countrymen through covetousness and greed.
I am being evicted and trampled upon and thrown out of my home which has been my dwelling place and abode for more than 40 years.
The million dollar question that pops up in my mind is: Do I have a government that cares for me?
Does it care about me and other citizens enough to protect us from foreign exploitation?
I believe the laws that were framed by our forefathers and are enshrined in our Constitution, were designed for the sole purpose of protecting and empowering citizens.
Are these laws in our constitution upheld?
Are government agencies that are tasked to protect and defend us upholding those laws?
Are they doing their mandated responsibilities? I don’t think so.
That is because corruption has destroyed the value of those laws.
Corruption is a contagious and incurable disease.
It has been eating away the core of social, physical and spiritual values of Papua New Guinea.
Corruption is a big issue.
It has gone through the legal process and the relevant authorities such as the National Housing Corporation, Lands and Physical Planning Department and other government agencies.
Please act now before it is too late.
Don’t let us become mere spectators in our own country.

Concerned,
PNG
