Education Department Secretary Dr Uke Kombra says all schools in the country receive 85 per cent of the total tuition fee free allocation of K602 million each year.
He said the remaining 15 per cent or K90 million was held back by the Education Department for procurement of teaching and learning materials.
He said that yesterday to clarify misconceptions by the public, including a statement from a Western Highlands-based principal, that his school received 40 per cent of TFF funds.
“Under TFF, the three components are administration, teaching and learning resources and infrastructure,” Kombra said.
“85 per cent of the TFF is going directly to schools, not into the provincial administration.
“Only 15 per cent is held back by the department and we are procuring teaching learning resources and supplying them directly to schools. The 15 per cent equates to K90 million. The department does not see the cash.”
Kombra said Education Minister Nick Kuman was expected to announce the next TFF allocation for this year soon.
