Alternative energy system needed

Letters

AFTER reading from the Energy Minister Sam Basil and other knowledgeable persons in the energy sector, I believe that PNG needs an alternative energy system.
Developed and developing countries worldwide have used coal or are still using coal for power generation.
More power companies must come into play in the energy sector where coal, hydro, biomass, geothermal, gas and the other renewables of solar, wind, and water can be integrated.
Renewables produce energy but is the power demanded produced when it is needed as opposed to coal and hydro where base power is available at any time of the day?
While working on a solution for when PNG can use all mix energy, I commend Basil and Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta for their vision to support coal proponents.
