Karimui-Nomane MP Francis Alua, plans to rehabilitate the roads and fix the bridges destroyed by natural disasters in his district last week.
While sympathising with families who lost loved ones during last week’s landslides, Alua said the deaths and destruction to properties were the work of nature.
“It is tragic that three people have lost their lives to the landslide.
“The recent weather change throughout the country caused widespread grief and losses. My district also went through these experiences.
“These deaths and damage were beyond our control.
“There is nothing much we can do to bring back what is lost, but we promise to rebuild the services that are damaged,” Alua said.
Meanwhile, heavy flooding washed away bridges and roads.
Eyewitnesses said it was difficult getting into Kundiawa town, and landslips were continuing.
