Anger after police car hit

POLICE in North Fly damaged a bus and arrested the driver after it hit a police vehicle while they were on night duty in Tabubil, Western last Saturday.
Provincial police commander Inspector Silva Sika told The National that the 15-seater bus, travelled at high speed from Wanbing village to Bulten village, when it hit the 10-seater vehicle police with officers inside.
“The driver of the bus was drunk and did not see the police vehicle in front.
“He was trying to overtake when it hit the back of the police vehicle,” Sika said.
He said the officers smashed the windows of the bus in anger and arrested the driver.
“No one was injured,” he said.
“I have directed senior officers to carry out an investigation.”
He is awaiting the full details of the accident.
It is the only police vehicle at Tabubil station.
